WIP Friday

A bag in the making!

I thought I had better keep up with WIP Friday as its a good way of keeping me on my toes! Its been so hot here in the South of England I have found it difficult to get on with things. Not only do I have a lot of work to catch up with but I also have an allotment! Allot of work!!!!! I managed to sneek in a couple of hours this morning befor it got too hot. My runner beans, tomatoes, peas and rocket were all planted and watered. phew!!! They were desperate to get in the ground.

I sometimes feel that I take on a bit too much, just like my mum! It keeps life interesting. I have been dreaming of succulent carrots, spinach, beetroot and tomatoes! Just a few more weeks and we should be reaping the rewards!

Anyway, must go, I am off to a lovely private view of an open house, filled with lovely handmade things, gorgeous house and garden, a few glasses of bubbly and strawberries!- I'm sure I will spend a bit of money as well!!!
Happy weekend everyone! Posted by Picasa

Mad Ideas!

Front view - Textile clock

Last year I had an idea and when you have one you have to try it! And textile clocks it was. I have now had a few commissions and the more I do the better they get. This was for a lady who was going to be 80, her family thought it would be an unusual but fun present and she liked it a lot.
Back view with door.

I like happy accidents - the bead detail all around the edge happened due to a glue leakage showing and I needed some thing to take your eye away from it. It took a while but the end result really added that je nais se quoi! Posted by Picasa

Foo Pics!

Foo Fighters!!!!!!

Well what a weekend!!
We had the opportunity of a life time, our friends had bought us tickets to the Foo Fighters gig at Hyde Park, London. Oh my God, Awesome is all I can say. I have been to a few gigs in my time but this has to be the best ever!
It was an all day bash, so Juliette and the Licks were on first, she rocks! Then Angels and Airwaves who were ok but Tom DeLonge (formely Blink 182) talked too much. After that came the great Queens of the Stone Age who started off a bit quiet and then they sorted out the sound to bring on an excellent performance. The old crooners Motorhead did their usual, entertained everyone with The Ace of Spades. Finally, what we had all been waiting for, the creme dela creme FOO FIGHTERS!!!!!!!!
Did i mention we were in the inner circle!!! So an excellent view and no squashing, we certainly had a treat! The crowd was HUGE! the biggest that the Foos have played in front off, 85,000!
Dave Grohl was amazing, and he came down a center stage right near us, so cool. We were so near, goosebumps all over!!! When we didn't think it could get any better it most certainly did, Brian May (Queen) and Roger Taylor (Queen) came on and played with the Foo's 'Tie Your Mother Down'. Basically, read this review from the NME as it tells you exactly as it happened. AWESOME!!!!
Hope you like the pics! See my flikr for more.

Have a great weekend - Im having a treat of a weekend, seeing the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and Motorhead in concert all in one day!!!!!!
See you Monday!!!!

Black/Grey : Wednesday

Today here in England it is finally a grey day! We have had such a scorcher of a week or two that a grey wet day is complete heaven! I could have photographed the sky (very apt for todays colour) but I found these two pics more pleasing. The detail picture is from our front room fireplace, very ornate and quite beautiful.
The Buddah looked very peaceful even though he was grey, he is mean't to go in the garden but he is very happy being by the fireplace!!!
Thank you for the lovely comments so far, its nice to know someone finds my blog interesting!!!

Brown: Tuesday

I found this quite difficult as everything had someyhing to do with wood! The first picture is a piece of work in progress. I am currently sewing pictures of birds on fabric for purses and wall hangings, sewn onto brown silk..... I am quite liking the effect.
The second picture is of a few (and a mean a few) brown buttons from my vast collection!
I have six draws full of buttons, whites/clear, blacks, reds/pinks, blue/greens and browns!
My boys love wading through them picking out their favourites, I seem to remember a little girl doing the same with her mummys button collection!!!

I'm not sure whether the picture of the white foxglove (from my garden) is classed as all white......mmm, might have to think again......

Colour Week!

I thought it was about time I contributed in the little communal projects which are always flying around in blog land, and what better than to start of with this really inspiring idea. Colour photo week! A great idea thought up by little birds and port2port.

Each day has a colour theme and you get to post a piccy of something very inspiring connected with that colour.

monday :: white
tuesday :: brown
wednesday :: black/gray (a color, not a black & white photo)
thursday :: blue
friday :: red

So Im off snapping, back in a while!.......

May days go by......

Another month just slipped away all in a heavenly artistic way! I was fortunate to exhibit my work at one of Brightons May Festival Open House's. They can be quite an ordeal leading up to it, but once your all set up and selling the buzz is just so exciting. The only problem with exhibiting at the Open House is that you don't get enough time to have a look around other houses. I did managed to go and look at my friend Jehane Yellow House open house. She had Karin Eriksson ceramics (seen above, don't you just love them!) there and as an avid reader of her blog site it was great to see her work in the flesh.

I had a specific commission at the weekend for a purse in blue tones with a matching corsage. I couldn't refuse even though I was up to my eyeballs in work - and here is the final piece. I put the corsage on the purse in the photo, looks quite good !
I might make a few like this for the shops.

I did manage to fit in a bit of relaxation this weekend by taking the family to a springwatch event here in Brighton. We had a lovely day of sitting with friends, soaking up the sun and learning all about nature! The boys loved it and I must confess, I did too! Our friend John was playing with his band The Carnival Collective. Ed, my littlest boy danced away to the beat, bless him and even got to hug a big badger! (not a real one!!!!) As usual, I forgot to take the camera hence no pics, sorry! I will try and getsome of my friends and post them later.
