The Pea and his Princess!

This book is absolute must if you love truely beautiful illustrations. My sons had this bought for them last year and its a favourite at bed time at the mo - not only for them but for me too! I love the pictures so much and if like me, you love Manda's Princess and the Pea sets then you will love this book. We imagine the princess is sleeping on many layers of different foods! The book ISBN 0-09-943233-1 is a delightful twist on a classic fairytale. The prince ends up marrying the palace gardeners daughter! Ahhhh, sweet.

This is the picture at the back of the book of their palace allotment - Oh how I wish my allotment looked like this at the mo. Its getting there, we had the beetroot thinnings on sunday. The boys were not too keen until they saw what colour their tongues had gone!! They were soon champion beetroot eaters gobbling up small purple balls!

Sorry for the recent lack of postings - I have been far too busy, making another cushion for a client who wanted it as a christening present. A lot of satin stitch text!!!! Looked good in the end!

WIP : Friday

This is part of a Friendship cushion that I was making on Friday for my good friend Vicky. We had a surprise party all planned as she was leaving us to move to the lovely countryside and me being me suggested that I make her a cushion with all our names on. Oh why do I have these mad ideas - so there I was making this in between looking after my 2 year old, visiting my other childs school strawberry tea party and organising everyone to turn up at a top secret hush hush party!

Well, it all went so well, we all had a VERY good time, she cried when she saw the cushion and had no idea of our plans. Perfect!!

I am just suffering today! Too much fizz, bed at 2am and a big picnic today, lets just say all the mums were a bit worse fo wears at the picnic. It had to be done, we will miss a truly good friend.

Wedding Bag : Whiplash!

Posted by Picasa
I thought I would have a go of my first whiplash - and how perfect, bags!
I am entering this into the Fancy section as its just that, rather fancy!
I was given a week by a client to do a bag for a wedding she was going to. She showed me her outfit and said please please do a patchwork bag incorporating one of my corsages. She loves the idea of it being made from recycled material and the middle block with the flower pattern actually came from a dress that I bought for myself for a wedding but never wear it anymore. ( I chopped it up and turned it into a fancy long top!)
Well, inspired by her lovely dress that she had bought in France, here is my attempt.
Her dress was lovely a chocolate brown chiffon, with a bit of netting and lovely gathering. Very shabby but very chic as you can imagine.
When it was finished my heart was going crazy as I showed her, very scary but great fun and she loved it!
Hope you all do to!

A scorching hot Monday!

I told you all that I was off to an Open House this weekend and well, a few glasses of bubbly went down rather nicely and I just had to buy this gorgeous button bracelet! I had a very good excuse as I already have a green one by the same artist but as I have worn it endlessly it is fraying some what and needed to be replaced!

I went to our local station carboot on Sunday and bought reams of khaki fabric for pennies and had promised the boys that I would attempt to make them a teepee. Well here is my attempt! Its standing up fine and looks great but it needed to be a little bigger at the bottom and not so wide at the top. A lot of gathering was done last night to remedie this little problem. My eldest hasn't seen it finished yet as he is at school, hope he likes it?

This is a close up of the door opening, I was getting carried away with the detail a bit, I forget that little boys don't see that sort of thing. As long as it stands and you can mess about in it they will be happy!
Oh well, must get on I have a proper commission for a bag this weekend, see you soon...... Posted by Picasa
