Production line in the factory.

Do you ever get that feeling that you work in a factory producing the same thing over and over and over....over....again?
I love my work and can actually say NO! I do not feel like that! I look at my work space and see that all around me is my life. I don't have a studio I have a dinning room table.

My fabrics are kept in these plastic drawers and see that cupboard door.....DONT OPEN IT! As you will be under an avalanche of yet more fabric! I keep all my ribbons in the hamper basket and buttons, beads and all those other essential bits and bobs in another cupboard...oh yes this one!
The other reason that I don't feel like my work is like a production line is because of the material I use. I maybe making the same things but as I use a lot of recycled fabrics, the colour combinations change and that's what keeps it exciting. Sad I know but I actually get rather excited about whether this button goes with that fabric or will floral go with stripes! Makes it all more unique.
I am not sure the boys thought the same as I was making 35 Japanese brooches!
Upstairs a whole new world was being created.....

When I went to investigate it turned out to be a Factory!

Here's the security guard at the entrance.....

The boss and his daughter watching over at great height! Notice the other security guard rather tipsy on the job! (he claims it was juice in the bottle!)

Apparently it was a magnet making factory, this is where the pictures get stamped and set on the magnets.
I think this guy had the important job of turning the machine on and off!
So maybe through their little eyes I am on that belt of production!

What a very creative family! I too don't have my own office or studio, I get to share my working space with a pink keyboard and fifi and the flowertots.

And what was JamJam up to whilst all this was going on? Was she in charge of tea and cake i wonder? I love the little factory your boys made up it's absolutely charming (just like your boys). Did you get the brooches done before the whistle blew?

Wow! I wish I made such cool things when I was little. I always got bored/frustrated before I finished.

I also work with recycled fabrics and it is so true that it stops things getting boring. Choosing matching ribbons and elastic is my favourite part too.

Unfortunately my paid work is a bit repetitive, but pays the bills. I make up for it by doing the fun stuff at home - but I'm not very efficient, because I'm always doing one-off things in snatched moments. I dream of sitting at my sewing machine all day! And I love seeing other people's creative work spaces!

This is a lovely post. I think your studio/work space looks very productive; such a creative space. Do you enjoying working in there most of the time? Over on Bright.Bazaar we have a regular feature called Office Inspiration and your studio would certainly fit the bill - very inspiring space!
I've a set of those plastic drawers too! I have to have a clean-out every couple of months because thingsjust don't get put back in the right places . . .somehow ;-)

Oh my God. I MISS playmobil. We had loads and now my boy is 13 and has turned his room into a teenage technology den. I miss the old days of finding tiny bits of plastic on the floor and knowing EXACTLY which playmobil man it belongs too!!!
